Within my work I aim to portray the physicality of the landscape I situate myself within, drawing inspiration from the harsh brutality of nature. All my work derives from experiences I have had, I draw a lot from memory but also use photography as a key tool within my work, often referring back to images for colour and compositions.
I enjoy using many different mediums within my work, concentrating on process and material. By using different methods in printmaking I am able to create detailed etchings, highlighting the intensity of the chosen environment. My paintings, drawings and mono-prints however, are a lot less planned, I tend to let my hand decide where the next mark will go and I don’t emphasis too much on replicating the exact image, more so on re-creating the textures and different marks found within natural form and the different landscapes I’m looking at, at that time.
